Hanoi Bar Association Warmly Receives Lawyer Raymond Yu, Vice-Chair of the External Affairs Committee of the Taiwan Bar Association and Former Head of the Taipei Bar Association

On 5 December 2024, at the headquarters of the Hanoi Bar Association, its International Relations Committee held a cordial reception to welcome Lawyer Raymond Yu, Vice-Chair of the External Affairs Committee of the Taiwan Bar Association and former Head of the Taipei Bar Association, on the occasion of his visit and working trip to Hanoi.

Back in December 2022, while still serving as Head of the Taipei Bar Association, Lawyer Raymond Yu had visited and met with the Executive Board of the Hanoi Bar Association to discuss several areas of cooperation between the Hanoi and Taipei bar associations.

The reception was attended by Lawyer Huynh Phuong Nam — Vice-President and Head of the International Relations Committee, Lawyer Nguyen Thi Dinh Huong — Board member and Head of the Financial Supervision Committee, together with members of the International Relations Committee.

In the warm atmosphere of a reunion after two years, Lawyer Huynh Phuong Nam thanked Lawyer Raymond Yu for his visit and reiterated the Hanoi Bar Association’s proposal regarding legal assistance for Vietnamese and Taiwanese citizens and businesses. He also noted that Hanoi lawyers are very interested in commercial mediation, which they see as an effective, modern means of dispute resolution. Lawyer Raymond Yu shared that the Taiwan Bar Association had just signed a cooperation agreement with the Lawyers Council of Thailand and expressed the hope of negotiating and signing a similar M.O.U with the Hanoi Bar Association in the near future.

On behalf of the Hanoi Bar Association, Lawyer Huynh Phuong Nam and Lawyer Nguyen Thi Dinh Huong presented a commemorative gift designed for the 40th anniversary of the Hanoi Bar Association — a relief carving of the Khue Van Cac (Pavilion of the Constellation of Literature). Lawyer Raymond Yu expressed his gratitude for the meaningful gift and, in turn, presented a souvenir symbolizing Taiwan’s judicial system, while warmly inviting a delegation of the Hanoi Bar Association to visit and work in Taiwan at a suitable time.
